Ben Jenner
Position: Commercial Accountant
Ben joined T J Hughes Financial Accounts department in 2001, shortly after completing a BA (Honours) degree in Accounting and Finance. After four years in the department (two of which were spent as Financial Accounts Manager) Ben transferred to the Commercial Accounts department, where he is currently employed.
The working day of an Accountant is often perceived as being very repetitive, but Ben’s day covers a wide range of challenging tasks.
These responsibilities include weekly trading reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, investment appraisal, information management and statutory reporting. Ben is in constant contact with all of the organisation’s key departments, such as Buying, Merchandising, Central Operations, HR, Marketing, IT, Business Support and Property. In addition, Ben comes into contact with a wide variety of key external stakeholders such as Board members, banks, suppliers, external auditors, H M Revenue & Customs, all of which help to enhance his experience and further his career development.
T J Hughes has sponsored Ben through the various stages of the professional qualification under the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) body. Ben was awarded Associate membership in January 2008.
