Position: Financial Accountant Assistant

My career at TJ Hughes began with weekend work in the cash office at the Ellesmere Port store. Whilst studying at university, I decided to change my role within the store, and moved on to the shop floor to be trained as a Sales Assistant. TJ Hughes were very helpful while I was studying, and allowed me to fit my work hours around the demands of my course.

Having been trained in several jobs, I found I was able to multi task and also help with cover for holidays and sickness within the store as a whole. This made my role more varied, and also benefited the Company too.

After four and a half years of working at the Ellesmere Port store, I successfully applied for the position of Financial Accounts Assistant at head office. I now hope to build on the training I am receiving by studying for my AAT qualification which the Company is happy to support. Once this is complete, I will further my training by completing a CIMA qualification.

I believe that the skills and knowledge I gained working in the store really helped me with my training in head office. In ten years' time, I hope to see myself as a qualified Accountant.
