I joined TJ Hughes in September 2006 as a Junior Merchandiser on the Menswear team. From day one I was involved in making decisions that effected how the whole department performed. Despite the pressure, I enjoyed the responsibility and quickly progressed within the Company.
I was 'given the reins' for the first time in August 2008, when I was promoted to Merchandiser Designate and given a new department to merchandise with support from a Senior Manager. Although it was hard work, it gave me an enormous amount of pride to see the department succeed.
I was promoted to Merchandiser earlier this year, and I now have an even bigger department to look after. It is a very fast-paced environment and you definitely need to be able to adapt to the new challenges that will face you each day. I enjoy the fact that I can make a decision and see the end results.
I wanted a dynamic career with a company that recognised my skills – TJ Hughes gave me that opportunity.
